    荷兰咯 我热烈地!

I’m bilingual. Sometimes, I switched my Windows input language to Chinese when I was sending out emails in Chinese, and often so I forgot to switch it back to English before I typed some URLs in my browser to visit another site, and that, resulting funny string of Chinese text in my browser’s address bar. So I started to try that with the sites I visit regularly and here’s what I got:

    1. 的按咯和。com (deanloh.com)
    2. 爬泳爬犁。com (paypal.com)
    3. 米索尼。com (msn.com)
    4. 购买力。com (gmail.com)
    5. 阿批评了。com (apple.com)
    6. 好评。com (hp.com)
    7. 我让大批热诉讼。org (wordpress.org)
    8. 法测波噢可。com (facebook.com)
    9. 发日恩打算特任。com (friendster.com)
    10. 费力存款人。com (flickr.com)
    11. 不咯个个人。com (blogger.com)
    12. 恶霸一。com (ebay.com)
    13. 没意思怕册。com (myspace.com)
    14. 地改革。com (digg.com)
    15. 饿死叛逆。com (espn.com)
    16. 才呢他。com (cnet.com)
    17. 恩嘎多个体。com (engadget.com)
    18. 辣酸甜。父母 (last.fm)

Last but not least… anyone wants to make a guess what will cnn.com get you?

Answer: “才能年。com” (and I wonder what did you guess it was…)

Oh by the way, the title above, is actually “Hello World” :)

    Farewell Note

    destination.jpg

Dear clients, partners and friends in Singapore,

Some of you may already knew that I’ll be moving out of Singapore in about two weeks time, I’m going to China for good. This notice is to make it official.

First of all this is not a sudden decision, I have planned on it for quite a while; no doubt my original plan was to do it slightly later, but, well, circumstances change.

Seven years ago before I came to Singapore, people told me all sorts of horrible things about Singaporeans, I actually believed what they said. After being here for years now, I must say that my perspective have changed, I mean, I can actually see it for myself the horrible things about Singaporeans…

Move out sale: Motorola Cable Modem (Maxonline) [SOLD]

    Motorola Cable Modem

This modem became useless after I switched to Singnet’s ADSL. This is not the actual photo (I had to take one from internet as I was too lazy to take out my camera again). But there’s hardly any wear and tear as all it did was sit around the corner.

I bought this for: S$99. Now I’m selling I sold it for: S$30.

Move out sale: Web Marketing Cookbook

    Web Marketing Cookbook

I can’t remember where/when did I buy this from, or who did I “borrow” it from, but this is not a bad reference book if you are thinking of writing one. The contents however, maybe a bit outdated as it was written in 1997. That’s why I’m giving it away.

    More information:
    410 pages. Published in 1997.

Move out sale: Uncommon Sense by Dr Mel Gill

Uncommon Sense by Dr Mel Gill

I bought this book out of impulse after listened to the author’s speech in one of those rah rah shows. Then I realized I couldn’t make much sense out of the book, maybe it’s because the book was written for people who have PhD (and I didn’t mean permanent head damage). Anyway, you can give it a shot, it did make me look good however every time I whipped it out and read in the MRT.

    More information:
    377 pages. Published in 2000.

I bought this for: S$35.95. Now I’m selling for: S$12.

    • Martin Toh 6:08 pm on January 9, 2008 Permalink

Did you buy this book? Really? He was finding difficulty even to give them away free of charge!

    • Dean 7:58 pm on January 9, 2008 Permalink

Lol… I thought I should try ask for refund, but I gather I might have better luck selling it away at 1/3 of the original price. I’m sure I won’t be the only victim…

The Speed Reading Book by Tony Buzan

I can’t really tell how useful is this book because I didn’t really pick up speed reading eventually, maybe I need to read it again and read it slowly in order to learn the technique…

Anyway, this is written by the same gentleman who invented mind mapping technique.

    More information:
    223 pages. Published in 2000.
