Making Music

As I was messing around with the Guitarist application I installed in my iPhone, out of inspiration I came up with this tune. It says pretty about my life, and how I would like the finishing line to be. Let me know if you like it.

I Wait. Therefore iPhone.

I picked the white iPhone 3G because I want it to match my Macbook.

I finally got the iPhone 3G last Sunday (Aug 24).

I remember more than a year ago, when Apple told the world that they were going to come up with the revolutional iPhone, I told everyone I already have my name on it. Then I patiently waited for it to come to Singapore. Then I saw more and more people going for the hacked version of the iPhone as they didn’t think it was coming to Singapore any sooner. I continued to wait. Then Apple announced to the world that they were coming up with the better iPhone 3G. I continued to wait as they said it would arrive in Singapore “later this year”. Came Aug 22, it finally arrived!

I’m excited not because I finally got the iPhone 3G. I’m excited because I had actually waited for it patiently for 18 months. And I didn’t take the shortcut by getting the hacked version as I refused to. So I said I was going to have my name on the iPhone, and today I have it on my desk.

Now, I say I’m going to have my name on the Audi.

Got Bike Will Ride

Dean\'s new bike

In view of the uprising petrol price; not that I care as I don’t drive, but I have to pay surcharge when I take taxi, and it certainly doesn’t make a lot of economy sense if I take taxi to lunch and dinner, or to run some errands nearby, so I thought I should still get a bike (after having two of those being stolen.)

Good thing is the bike is so light, I don’t mind carry it one flight of staircases up to keep in the office. Now on, midnight supper is just a paddle away!

Surviving The 20 Hour Movie Marathon Challenge

I received the invitation from Citibank to participate in the 20 Hour Movie Marathon Challenge organized by them in conjunction with their 20th Anniversary celebration. The challenge was held at The Shaw Cinema (Lido) over last weekend.

150 contestants were selected to take part, but only some 50 over showed up, guess everyone else had something better to do. But to me, I took it as a very interesting way to spend the weekend, since I enjoy watching movies, and staying up for more than 20 hours has been something I do almost regularly, plus, the winner who survived through it gets to fly to Hollywood and stay for free for 4 nights. Given all the good reasons to be in it, who would say no?

The challenge began on 12 noon on Saturday. Read rest of story…

Celebrating 34 Years On Earth

As I typed the title above, I recalled I once did the same during my previous birthday, I think that was 8 years ago, when I was celebrating (34-8=26) years old. Seems like certain things don’t change.

Anyway, I’ll be celebrating my 34th birthday in another 2 1/2 hours time. Every year I get depressed when it comes to celebrating my birthday. Not that I feel I’m another year older, but because I still don’t find myself as good as I had wished to be.

I felt worst on my 30th birthday, I thought I should be a millionaire by then, but I hadn’t become one.

I felt equally bad on my 32nd birthday, I thought I should be married and have my first kid then, but it didn’t happen.

This year, I was hoping to throw a big birthday bash and have whole bunch of people coming to my party and make me feel like a superstar. But I have decided instead, to go home and spend my birthday with people whom I care a lot.

I have decided to stop wishing for people to do something for me, to make me happy. I have learned, true happiness is when you can make others happy. And I know I will surely be happy this year. Happy birthday to me.

Old Hulk & New Hulk

I just had to blog about this, if you have watched the latest Hulk movie, remember the part when Bruce Banner pretended to be pizza boy in order to sneak into the lab? The security guard he gave pizza to, was the one who played the Hulk in the TV series during the 80’s. More amazingly, I could actually recognize him the moment I saw his face!

Don’t Worry, I’m Ok!

Couple of friends initiated a chat with we after they saw my Facebook status. They were asking why was I not happy. It made me realized there were people who care. With all my heart, I thanked them for asking.

It’s true I missed being happy. I missed the day when I had someone to share the good things and bad things with me. I missed having someone around for me. I missed having someone to work hard for. Basically, I’m not happy because I feel alone.

But saying not happy doesn’t mean I’m crying pity. I am still the same Dean Loh who everyone knows. By night I may cry and whine about all these shits which were going through my mind, but that’s only a way for me to flush out whatever I did not wish to carry over to the next day; and by the sun rises again, you would see the Dean who is full of energy and ready to hit the road again.

To my dearest friends who are reading this, thank you for caring, I’m really Ok. If ever anyone asks if you have a friend, who never says tired, who never gives up and never sees failure as option, you can tell them that you do know of someone. Tell them my name.

Blog from MSN

I discovered this new funky web service that allows users to interact with various popular web applications, such as adding task, set events, record expenses, even to post a blog entry like what I’m doing now, and this, is to find out if it actually works…

My Best Purchases

I have made many wrong purchase decisions in the past, including my first car, the Dopod PDA Phone, the HP laptop, as well as the idea of becoming an insurance agent (and it still gives me the shivers whenever I thought about the time I couldn’t even make enough to pay rents as an insurance agent!)

But this time, I must say that I have finally made my best purchase decision in my 33 1/2 years of living: my Macbook!

Don’t bother to ask which Macbook I bought, it’s never about the hardware, but the fact that I have decided to switch to Mac. It is something I have always had in mind, way before Windows 95 was invented. Problem is, all those years I had the concern if I was going to get enough support for being a Mac user, including technical support, as well as the availability of softwares that I can use. Since I became web designer, I was also concerned if I used a Mac to build websites, will they work well in Internet Explorer since 80% of internet users are probably still using that joker browser.

When my newly purchased HP laptop went berserk for the 3rd time (that is running on Windows Vista), I decided to just screw it and went out to get the Macbook, that has by far the world’s best operation system — Mac OS X Leopard in it. All of a sudden, my computing world became so hopeful again, and I immediately started to wonder: how have I survived those years without a Mac?

About

This is Dean Loh's personal blog.
Dean started blogging since 1999. In the beginning he wrote a lot of personal stuffs, so personal till he decided to shut down the blog as he didn't think it was a good idea for his girlfriend to read about his ex-girlfriends.
Then, shortly after he got bored, so he started to blog again, and he wrote a lot of work stuffs, so much about work till he decided to shut it down as he didn't think it was a good idea for his boss to read about his ex-bosses.
Now, Dean is bored again, and since he doesn't have girlfriend (at the moment) and he doesn't work for any boss, he thought, he might as well blog again. And this time, it is going to be just about everything!
