Weekend Purchase

At first it was just a “slightly unusual lunch outing” at Turf Club Road. Reason why I said “unusual” was because we brought Milo along to this dog café that serves human foods (to human of course) too.

But what is even unusual was where we went after lunch.

I Wait. Therefore iPhone.

I picked the white iPhone 3G because I want it to match my Macbook.

I finally got the iPhone 3G last Sunday (Aug 24).

I remember more than a year ago, when Apple told the world that they were going to come up with the revolutional iPhone, I told everyone I already have my name on it. Then I patiently waited for it to come to Singapore. Then I saw more and more people going for the hacked version of the iPhone as they didn’t think it was coming to Singapore any sooner. I continued to wait. Then Apple announced to the world that they were coming up with the better iPhone 3G. I continued to wait as they said it would arrive in Singapore “later this year”. Came Aug 22, it finally arrived!

I’m excited not because I finally got the iPhone 3G. I’m excited because I had actually waited for it patiently for 18 months. And I didn’t take the shortcut by getting the hacked version as I refused to. So I said I was going to have my name on the iPhone, and today I have it on my desk.

Now, I say I’m going to have my name on the Audi.

Got Bike Will Ride

In view of the uprising petrol price; not that I care as I don’t drive, but I have to pay surcharge when I take taxi, and it certainly doesn’t make a lot of economy sense if I take taxi to lunch and dinner, or to run some errands nearby, so I thought I should still get a bike (after having two of those being stolen.)

Good thing is the bike is so light, I don’t mind carry it one flight of staircases up to keep in the office. Now on, midnight supper is just a paddle away!

My Best Purchases

I have made many wrong purchase decisions in the past, including my first car, the Dopod PDA Phone, the HP laptop, as well as the idea of becoming an insurance agent (and it still gives me the shivers whenever I thought about the time I couldn’t even make enough to pay rents as an insurance agent!)

But this time, I must say that I have finally made my best purchase decision in my 33 1/2 years of living: my Macbook!

Don’t bother to ask which Macbook I bought, it’s never about the hardware, but the fact that I have decided to switch to Mac. It is something I have always had in mind, way before Windows 95 was invented. Problem is, all those years I had the concern if I was going to get enough support for being a Mac user, including technical support, as well as the availability of softwares that I can use. Since I became web designer, I was also concerned if I used a Mac to build websites, will they work well in Internet Explorer since 80% of internet users are probably still using that joker browser.

When my newly purchased HP laptop went berserk for the 3rd time (that is running on Windows Vista), I decided to just screw it and went out to get the Macbook, that has by far the world’s best operation system — Mac OS X Leopard in it. All of a sudden, my computing world became so hopeful again, and I immediately started to wonder: how have I survived those years without a Mac?
